City Theatre's Miami Ghost Stories

City Theatre's Miami Ghost Stories

Overview

New short plays read live with music by HOLA HI. The audience votes on which ones City Theatre develops and produces next season.

Miami has secrets. Some are dead, some won’t die.

Last month City Theatre asked Miami’s playwrights for their ghost stories, and the response was bigger than we expected. We chose nine. You’ll hear a teaser version of each one, read by professional actors with live music from world-pop duo HOLA HI, and a story by Joshua Jean-Baptiste ties the whole night together.

Then you vote. The stories the audience picks are the ones we’ll develop and produce as a full show next Halloween.

The stories

The nine cover Miami’s history, neighborhoods, legends, landmarks, and present-day realities. Some are creepy, some are tense, and a few are funny. All of them are set here, and all of them were written by people who live here: Jeff Burleson, Samara Siskind, Ivan R. Lopez, Joey Schrier, Paul Torres Wong, William Hector, Brittany King, J.C. Gutierrez, and Toni Rodriguez.
