🧠 Lecture: "The Story of Lithium: From the Big Bang to Your Brain"

🎤 Speaker: Dr. Ben Lillie

Why are there two rock songs about lithium but none about beryllium? In this illuminating talk, physicist and storyteller Ben Lillie uses lithium to trace an unforgettable journey from the birth of the universe to the chemistry of your own brain. Along the way, you’ll explore cosmology, particle physics, geology, biology, and neurochemistry—discovering how one simple element connects so many branches of science and culture.

Ben is a physicist turned storyteller turned mixer of academics and performance. He is the founder of Caveat, a New York City venue specializing in smart comedy and live intellectual entertainment, and the co-founder of The Story Collider. A former TED writer and Moth StorySLAM champion, he holds a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford and has worked at The University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory.
