🧠 Lecture: "Identity, Politics, and Epistemic Injustice"
🎤 Speaker: PhD Candidate, Alexandra Stamson
Join us for a thought-provoking evening as philosopher Alexandra Stamson explores “epistemic injustice” – how discrimination and social norms shape whose knowledge we trust and whose we dismiss.
Alex will unpack the influential concepts of “testimonial injustice” and “hermeneutical injustice,” showing how they relate to contemporary understandings of gender, race, sexuality, and other aspects of identity. Through this lens, she’ll examine how credibility is granted or denied in our social and political spaces, and how that process can entrench injustice.
A lecturer and PhD candidate in Philosophy at the University of Connecticut, Alexandra is also a public philosopher dedicated to applying academic theory to social justice. Her work in feminist epistemology develops a new theory of understanding rooted in identity, analyzing how environments and social, political, and technological pressures shape how we understand ourselves and others.
Don’t miss this chance to rethink how power, identity, and knowledge intersect in our everyday lives.
