🧠 Lecture: "Vaccines: One of History's Best Financial Investments"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Priya Nori
Join us for a compelling evening as Dr. Priya Nori reveals why vaccines are not only medical miracles, but also among the greatest financial and civic investments in human history.
Widespread vaccination has dramatically reduced population-level susceptibility to measles, polio, smallpox, and other infections that once cut lifespans short—think of the deadly scenarios from the Oregon Trail game many of us played as kids. Beyond preventing acute illness, vaccines also help avert downstream chronic conditions like cancer, dementia, heart disease, and stroke, safeguarding both our health and our economies. Recent measles outbreaks tied to declining vaccination rates have already cost the U.S. millions of dollars, underscoring what’s at stake.
Dr. Nori is a Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) and Orthopedic Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Medical Director of multiple antimicrobial stewardship and outpatient antibiotic programs at Montefiore Health System.
