🧠 Lecture: "Politics Now: A Philosophy of How We Got Here"

🎤 Speaker: Dr. Joshua Craze

Join us for a sharp and entertaining exploration of one of the biggest questions of our political moment: is Donald Trump a “great man” reshaping history, or just a symptom of deeper world-historical forces?

Drawing on 19th-century thinkers like Hegel and Carlyle, Dr. Joshua Craze will guide us through classic debates about whether individuals drive history or history drives individuals. From White House chaos and bizarre policy decisions to questions about the end of U.S. hegemony, this lecture asks whether Trump is a world-making figure or simply the vessel for much larger changes.

Dr. Craze is a writer and a fellow at the Center on Armed Groups and at Type Investigates. He has a PhD from UC Berkeley, has taught at the University of Chicago and in San Quentin State Prison, and has written for the New York Review of Books, n+1, The Baffler, Al Jazeera, and the Guardian.
