Learn how DC-area organizations are supporting boys and young men of color, and how YOU can make a difference as a mentor!
Mentor a Young Man. Change a Life.
Monday, November 9 | 7:00–8:00 PM | Virtual (Zoom)
Could you spare just 1–2 hours a week to make a lasting difference in a young man's life?
Thousands of boys and young men across the DC area could benefit from a caring adult who offers encouragement, guidance, and support. You could be that person!
Join DC Tutoring & Mentoring Initiative and My Brother's Keeper DC for a free virtual information session bringing together community members and organizations dedicated to mentoring boys and young men of color, preventing violence, and helping young people thrive.
Whether you're ready to become a mentor or simply curious about how you can help, we'd love to have you join us!
What You'll Learn-
- The challenges and opportunities facing boys and young men of color in the DC area, and how local organizations are responding.
- How mentoring works and the difference a caring, reliable adult can make in a young person's life.
- Ways YOU can get involved, based on your interests, availability, and the age group you'd like to work with.
- How to get started with one of the many mentoring programs serving young people throughout DC and the surrounding suburbs.
Meet Local Organizations Making a Difference
You'll have the opportunity to hear from and learn about programs including:
BEST Kids, Horton's Kids, Kid Power, Spark the Journey, College Bound, Generation Hope, Minds Matter DC, College Tribe, Boys & Girls to Men & Women Greater Washington, and many more!
We're partnering with My Brother's Keeper DC and Ben Ali Motivation to bring together more than 30 organizations and community members committed to mentoring young men of color, preventing violence, and supporting youth across the DC area.
You Don't Need Special Qualifications to Be a Mentor!
You don't need a college degree, professional experience, or special training to get started. What matters most is your willingness to show up consistently, listen, encourage, and be a positive presence in a young person's life.
Even 1–2 hours a week can make a meaningful difference.
Tell us when you're available, what age group you'd like to work with, and what interests you. We'll do our best to connect you with a mentoring opportunity that's a good fit.
