Learn how to identify trees in winter during Winter Tree Identification on Friday, February 19 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Studio and outdoors.
Led by instructor Nate Beccue, the class begins indoors with an introduction to tree identification terminology and hands-on practice examining twigs, fruit, and other winter characteristics. The second half moves outdoors for a hike through Allerton Park, where the class will identify trees in the field and put your new skills to work while also learning how to distinguish trees by their bark and habitat. This class is designed for anyone interested in learning how to recognize trees without relying on leaves.
