A FLIGHT OF IMAGINATION
A Flight of Imagination explores imagination, discovery & dreams with The Notebooks of Leonardo DaVinci, a multimedia experience with video.
The concert, produced by Rackham Choir, takes place in the Auditorium at Seaholm High School.
Other pieces in the program include Sogno di Volare by Christopher Tin, a two-time Grammy-winning composer, using Leonardo’s own words to evoke feelings of soaring inspiration.
Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine by Eric Whitacre is a beautiful tone poem capturing the feeling of flight in open-air. Flight Song by Kim Andre Arnesen, celebrates the uplifting nature of song. Finally, the classic Alleluia by Randall Thompson is a transcendent a capella prayer that is both familiar and haunting.
There is an intermission.
The video component (below) utilizes exciting new musical technology that has its operator acting as an integrated member of the ensemble, coordinating the video in real-time, under the conductor’s direction.
