An evening of reading aloud and open conversation. Bring your book, your perspective… or simply come listen.
Chronicles | Who Taught Me to Want?
Five books. One open question.
We begin with The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho… then follow the conversation through Desire, Conditioning, Inheritance, Self-definition, and Action.
Our reading order:
- The Alchemist — Paulo Coelho
- The Bluest Eye — Toni Morrison
- Memphis — Tara M. Stringfellow
- Assata: An Autobiography — Assata Shakur
- The Spook Who Sat by the Door — Sam Greenlee
What is Chronicles?
Adults reading to adults… with room for the conversation to become part of the reading.
We gather around a book, read aloud, and follow what catches our attention. A sentence recalls something. Someone sees it differently. We return to the words… and hear more than we heard the first time.
Bring your curiosity, your experience, your disagreements. There is room to listen, too.
We’ll meet at Barnes & Noble in Champions Village for a quiet evening of reading and conversation. Bring a copy of the featured book if you have one. You are welcome to attend and listen.
Hosted by Agrippa A. AbSholom.
Online guests can listen live and share comments or questions in the chat for our discussion pauses. Please join with your microphone muted. Cameras are optional.
