Music to My Eyes
A Concert Pianist Meets A Whimsical Contemporary Artist
The Maliotis Cultural Center invites you to join us for a memorable evening where Greek concert pianist Alexandros Kyriakopoulos meets contemporary artist Catheline van den Branden for a unique live artistic moment.
Alexandros Kyriakopoulos belongs to the new generation of Greek artists who thrive abroad, bringing Greek talent to the world’s most prestigious music stages. Born and raised in Kythira, since 2020, he has lived and worked in Boston, where his musical career continues to flourish. With clarity of thought and a deep awareness of his artistic mission, the young pianist describes his journey as a constant pursuit of balance between discipline and creation. You can learn more about him here.
Catheline van den Branden explores our universal attempts at making sense of our world, setting systems for ourselves, only to see them unravel or even consciously provoking their very destruction. She explores memory, displacement and the journey toward longing and belonging. She thinks of us as human paradoxes, absurd, even comical at times, weaving our beautiful, complex journeys as we continue to forge ahead toward the ultimate end, making connections, trying to heal our and each others’ wounds, unravelling and stitching our torn selves back together as best we can. You can learn more about her here.
