🎤 Speaker: Dr. Moiya McTier
Join us for a captivating evening with astrophysicist and folklorist Dr. Moiya McTier as she takes you on a tour of the most fascinating planets beyond our solar system. In the last 30 years, astronomers have discovered thousands of exoplanets, revealing a galaxy filled with astonishing worlds—from Jupiter lookalikes that nearly graze their suns to rocky planets so dark they absorb almost all the light that touches them.
Dr. McTier will introduce you to some of the Milky Way’s most intriguing planets and explain the clever methods scientists use to discover them.
An alumna of Harvard and Columbia, Dr. McTier has given hundreds of talks around the world, consulted with Disney on fictional worldbuilding, and advocated for artists’ rights on Capitol Hill. She shares her expertise through her astronomy podcast Pale Blue Pod and her books told from immortal perspectives, THE MILKY WAY and MOTHERS OF INVENTION.
