When Paintings Breathe – AISL Art Exhibition is an in-person bio-art exhibition for the local Harrow community, showcasing Sofia Huang's bio-material work this summer.
When Paintings Breathe, was inspired by the phrase "when pigs fly." It's a saying we often use to dismiss something as impossible, as something that could never happen. But the climate crisis has forced us to confront many things we once thought impossible, and it is no longer enough to simply admire nature from a distance. This project is about challenging exactly that – the relationship between art and our environment. It is about reimagining what art can be and exploring what seems out of reach is closer than we think. When we open ourselves to new ways of creating, where art and nature exist not separately but as one, the impossible quietly becomes possible. And in that shift, there is hope; a reminder that the future is not yet written and that with creativity and care, we can still shape a world worth breathing in.
