Interviews with Ian ft. Andrew Cashen

Come hang out for an intimate live recording of Interviews with Ian featuring Andrew Cashen.

Few songwriters in Austin cover as much creative territory as Andrew Cashen. From the ferocious, sweat-drenched garage-glam punk of A Giant Dog and the lush, brass-infused soul-pop of Sweet Spirit, all the way to the crushing, sludgy doom riffs of Tear Dungeon and his nuanced solo releases—Andrew refuses to stay in one sonic lane.

He has spent his career mastering the art of the hook across wildly different extremes, proving that great songwriting cuts through whether you’re writing an infectious pop groove or dialing in thick, down-tuned sludge. Ian MacDougall and Andrew will break down how to constantly reinvent your sound, balance raw heaviness with melodic discipline, arrange for diverse ensembles, and build an expansive catalog without losing your creative identity.
