Welcome aboard In Flight Entertainment, an afternoon of games, debate and confessions for travellers and anyone who’s ever caught feelings in another time zone. Come for the hot takes, stay for the people. You might leave with a new friend, a travel buddy for your next trip, or someone you’d happily miss a flight for.

Your hostess is Leanne, writer of Lovers & Layovers, the Substack about dating abroad. She’s collected stories from beaches, airport lounges and the DMs, and tonight it’s your turn to share yours.

Your flight plan

2pm Boarding. You’ll get a passport on arrival and be paired with a stranger. Complete the challenges around the room to collect your stamps. The first pair to finish with the right answers wins a prize.

2:30pm The Show.

• Nothing to Declare: Two friend groups go head to head. Each one tells a wild holiday story, and only one version is true. Can you tell who’s lying?
• Red Eye: Our after-dark debate, featuring the questions people are too scared to ask online. Grab the mic or pick a side.
• Cockpit Confessions: Your anonymous dating dilemmas and confessions, read out and discussed by the room.
• Final Call: Seen someone you like? Shoot your shot on stage and win a travel voucher. Nobody has to answer on the spot.

4pm onwards: The DJ takes over, the seatbelt sign goes off, and you get a chance to make your next move.

Pre-flight Dining

Hungry? Come early and eat at Jurkish, where Jamaican and Turkish flavours meet on one plate. Food is served from 1pm, and there’s a bottomless brunch option for anyone who wants to start their journey in first class!

£35 per person. Bottomless beers and prosecco for 90 minutes with one brunch dish.

£39 per person. Bottomless cocktails for 90 minutes with one brunch dish.

Pay on the day. Cost in addition to your ticket.

One of you tells the truth, and the other two have to lie convincingly. Men’s groups, women’s groups and mixed groups are all welcome. Each guest picks a sticker when they arrive. Lovers means you’re open to dating, Layovers means you’re looking for friends and travel buddies, and No Fly Zone means you’re taken and just here for the fun. We don’t match anyone. We just make it easier to say hello.

Lovers & Layovers centres the stories of women who travel and date, and this event is open to everyone who’s lived a version of them, whatever your background. That includes people who’ve had a holiday romance, people who wish they had, and anyone with strong opinions about dating and relationships.

Fellas, this one’s for you too. Every man has a Lovers & Layovers story, whether it’s the one in Lagos, the one in Cartagena, or the one you still think about when you see a British Airways sale. If you’ve ever said that women abroad just hit different, come and defend it. The room wants to hear your side.
