After5Boston - Your Inner Child has a Story to Tell: Let’s Unlock It

Overview

Reconnect with your inner child through playful storytelling and zine making. Turn your imagination, memories, and ideas into a story of you

A Conversation on Inner Child Healing, Creativity, and Personal Storytelling

Join an artist, illustrator, and creative entrepreneur from Curioko Studio for Your Inner Child Has a Story to Tell: Let's Unlock It, an interactive workshop exploring the joy of reconnecting with your younger self through storytelling and zine making. Together, we'll explore how childhood memories, playful ideas, and personal experiences can become meaningful works of art. Through hands-on creative exercises, you'll learn how to transform a simple sheet of paper into an eight-page mini-publication while experimenting with words, images, and imagination to bring your unique story to life.

What We'll Cover:

• Reconnecting With Your Inner Child - Explore how childhood memories, imagination, and play can inspire creativity and help you rediscover the stories that make you who you are.

• Turning Your Story Into Art - Experiment with words, images, and personal memories to create a zine that reflects your experiences, perspective, and imagination.

• The Art of Zine Making - Learn how to turn a simple sheet of paper into an eight-page mini-publication using accessible materials, creative techniques, and your own ideas.

Whether you're an experienced artist, a curious creative, or someone looking to reconnect with your playful side, you'll leave with your very own self-published zine, fresh inspiration, and a renewed appreciation for the stories only you can tell.

About The Speaker:

Megan Aki (they/them) is an artist, illustrator, and zine enthusiast based in Somerville, MA. After a decade of professional experience in the climate sector, Megan embraced their childhood dreams of being an artist and maker of things and founded their business, Curioko Studio. They are passionate about books and artwork for kids, short form storytelling and zines, and hand drawn animation. When they’re not facilitating zine making workshops, you'll find them helping people connect with their inner childlike joy and whimsy at their monthly Drink n’ Draw meetups in Somerville.
