After5Houston - Do We Live in a Multiverse?
Could other universes exist? Explore what physics can tell us about the multiverse, from scientific theories to the search for evidence
A Conversation About the Multiverse and Other Universes
Join a theoretical physicist for Do We Live in a Multiverse?, a journey into one of the biggest questions in modern physics: could there be other universes beyond our own? What if our universe is just one of many? For decades, the idea of a multiverse has lived somewhere between serious physics, philosophical speculation, and science fiction. But where does the science actually stand? We'll explore where the multiverse idea comes from, what different theories actually propose, and what physicists can and can't say about whether other universes might exist.
What We'll Cover:
• Where the multiverse idea comes from - Explore different theories and what physicists mean when they talk about the possibility of other universes.
• How physics opens the door to other universes - Discover how quantum mechanics, cosmology, and theories about the early universe have led physicists to consider the multiverse.
• Could we ever find evidence? - Examine what evidence scientists might look for and whether the existence of other universes could ever be tested.
The multiverse may sound like science fiction, but the questions behind it are very real. Come curious, bring your biggest questions, and explore what physics can actually tell us about the possibility that our universe isn't the only one.

About The Speaker:
Prachi Garella is a theoretical physics PhD student at the University of Houston, where her research explores how matter behaves under the most extreme conditions in the universe - work that runs surprisingly close to tonight's topic, since it deals with how physical systems settle into equilibrium over time. She did her postgraduate work at Durham University in England, studying particles, strings, and cosmology. What really sets Prachi apart is how she communicates science: as co-host of The Knowmads Podcast and through a growing social following, she turns the hardest ideas in physics into clear, genuinely fun insights that make you stop and think.
