Make your own perfume: Cultures of Seduction (in person)
Saskia Wilson-Brown shares research for 'The Cultures of Perfume', with a focus on the seduction chapter: Honey, civet, jasmine, leather.
About this class
Saskia Wilson-Brown shares research for her recent book— The Cultures of Perfume: Scents That Shaped History—with an emphasis on materials historically used to express culture in discrete areas of activity.
This in-person session will focus on seduction, exploring four materials that have been historically used to express or explain desire. The class starts with a smelling session, focusing on jasmine, honey, civet and leather, with other aromatic notes included as appropriate. After smelling the materials and discussing their historic use, the class will engage in a blending exercise, making a perfume as a group while we explore how to formulate. Finally, each attendee will make their own composition using the materials from class, leaving with a 15ml spray vial.
Two and half hours, in person. No previous experience blending needed.
