🧠 Lecture: "Radical New York: From Anarchists to Occupy Wall Street"
🎤 Speaker: Thai Jones
Join us for a riveting evening as historian and author Thai Jones traces New York City’s radical tradition from the Gilded Age to Occupy Wall Street. From anarchists, suffragettes, and labor leaders to New Deal Reds, Sixties student radicals, and twenty-first century occupiers, New York has long been the stage for America’s boldest experiments in democracy and justice.
Blending personal experience with archival research, Jones will explore how generations of radical New Yorkers have challenged power, reshaped the city, and reimagined what freedom can look like.
Thai Jones is the Herbert H. Lehman Curator for American History at Columbia University’s Rare Book & Manuscript Library and teaches the history of radicalism. He is the author of several books, including More Powerful Than Dynamite and A Radical Line, and was historical consultant and co-writer for the award-winning podcast Mother Country Radicals. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, the Washington Post, the New York Times, The Nation, and the Occupied Wall Street Journal.
