"Butter Woman" at the New Orleans Fringe Festival

"Butter Woman" at the New Orleans Fringe Festival

Overview

"Butter Woman" by Tuere T. S. Ganges and Samille Ganges is a decolonial, life-sized puppet performance reimagining an African folktale.

"Butter Woman" by Tuere T. S. Ganges and Samille Ganges (a.k.a. plantainfutures) is a life-sized puppet performance that reclaims and reimagines an African folktale once distorted by colonial retellings. The work emerges from the desire to preserve stories that center Black and Brown lineages, connect us to the Motherland and resist erasure.

Experience "Butter Woman" at the New Orleans Fringe Festival November 13-15, and with the New Marigny Theatre Artist in Residency Program November 20-21.
