New Orleans Open-Hearth Cooking Class

New Orleans Open-Hearth Cooking Class

Overview

Learn the basics of historic open-hearth cooking in our hands-on workshop!

Come learn the basics of open-hearth cooking in a hands-on cooking class! In our private classes, groups of 2-4 participants will work directly with our historical cooking experts in our open-hearth kitchen to prepare and enjoy a historical meal sourced from Creole Cookery, our very own Creole cookbook published in 1885 , alonge with other 19th-century cookbooks.

Participants will learn how to interpret 19th-century recipes and to cook without electricity using open flame, coals, and embers as heat sources. Participants can enjoy the foods prepared on site or take home to enjoy later. All ingredients and materials are included with the event fee, and dietary accommodations are available upon request at least 1 week in advance of class.
