Whistle While You Work  - A Basket Weaving and Sea Shanty Workshop

Get crafty with basket weaving while belting out sea shanties for a fun, laid-back workshop vibe.

Join us on Saturday, November 21 at 1pm as we conclude our exploration of what the “weary sailors” of Snug Harbor did in their retirement. Teresa Caliari will lead a mini tour of basket weaving and musical artifacts in the museum. Then Bob Wright will teach us about sea shanties - traditional work songs that sailors sang to keep rhythm while they worked. Bob will be our shanty man as we weave baskets singing traditional songs collected from the retired sailors living at Snug Harbor.
