Thinking on your Feet with The Diversity Hires Improv
You can do it too! Surprise yourself with improv skills you can bring to work, social events, and self improvement.
Moving to a new country is tough and can mean navigating unfamiliar social norms, workplace culture, humour, and communication styles…
Over four 2-hour sessions, participants will be introduced to core improv values: Jumping In, Listening, and Saying Yes, while seeing how these can translate to their careers, social lives, and confidence.
Led by Asian facilitators who have navigated life in Ireland themselves, the workshop creates space for shared experiences around culture, community, workplace life, homesickness, and even visa-related anxieties .
Rather than theatrical performance, we emphasise helping people to:
- Think quickly and respond confidently
- Get over their shyness in front of others
- Focus on listening and teamwork
- Stop overthinking
- Being comfortable facing mistakes and uncertainty
- Find community in a safe space
4 weeks · 2 hours each · November Tuesdays, 7pm-9pm
- Schedule: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th November
- €35 for ALL classes / €25 for an earlybird fee for all classes
- 12 person class limit
- Open to everyone, no prior experience needed
The class uses a play-first, life/career-integrated approach, mixing games with short discussions on real-life applications.
We want students to find a community here. Participants will have opportunities to meet others through sharing intercultural space and especially bridge between Asian communities and the wider Irish community. This workshop serves as a gateway to the Dublin improv scene, inviting them to future jams, shows, and events.
