Ethiopian Jazz and Wine at Lore, with The Mendir Fellowship
An evening of Ethiopian jazz, live music, and Ethiopian honey wine with The Mendir Fellowship at Lore Leimert Park.
Join us at Lore Leimert Park on Friday, October 16 from 7–9 PM for an evening of Ethiopian jazz, live music, and Ethiopian honey wine.
For this special evening, The Mendir Fellowship brings together Yared Yonas on bass, Joose on drums, Mwanzi on guitar, and special guest horns for a live set rooted in Ethiopian jazz and inspired by the sounds of Mulatu Astatke and Getatchew Mekuria.
The Mendir Fellowship takes its name from the Amharic word mendir, meaning village. Rooted in Ethiopian jazz and inspired by the past while looking toward the possible, the group plays original music that brings people together. Every show is a gathering because, in music, as in life, it takes a village.
Alongside the music, Spirit Of The Ancestors will be pouring Tej, the traditional Ethiopian honey wine that has brought people together at celebrations for centuries. Guests can enjoy the original, authentic Tej, as well as limited-release herbal blends made from special extractions.
Much like music, Tej is made to be enjoyed together.
