Introducing Agricolae: A New Wine Project from Ravines

Thomas Mitchell, previously working for Taylor Wine Company planted these vineyards on the East side of Keuka lake starting in the 70s. While some of the early plantings have been pulled out, the original plantings of Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Muscat Ottonel, Cayuga, Vignoles and Noiret are still there making them some of the oldest extant vineyards on Keuka Lake.

This part of Keuka lake exhibits particularly poor, rocky soils which, in turn, conveys a low vigor to the planted vineyards. Such a self limiting vineyard site produces high quality grapes with no crop thinning required. The wines from these sites tend to really show the cool climate aspect of Finger Lakes with crystalline aromas, racy acidity and great definition.

Registration costs $10, but all attendees will receive a $10 voucher to use at the store on one of the items they tasted on the day of the event. Light snacks will also be served, and attendees will receive some tasting notes on the items they're sampling.
