Two singular voices of Berlin jazz: Aki Takase and Silke Eberhard make piano and saxophone a lively conversation.

Aki Takase – piano
Silke Eberhard – saxophone.
Aki Takase and Silke Eberhard have been meeting in music for years. Both are unmistakable voices in Berlin jazz, and neither seems interested in the easy, predictable reply. Their long-running duo brings piano and saxophone into a conversation shaped by two very different musical paths.
Born in Osaka, Takase gave her first European concert at Jazzfest Berlin in 1981. Since then she has worked across continents and in countless formations, and in 2026 received the German Jazz Prize for lifetime achievement. Eberhard has shaped the Berlin scene through her own trio, Potsa Lotsa and many collective projects; she received the Jazzpreis Berlin in 2020. In the duo, those histories become a starting point for improvisation – with just piano and saxophone to carry the exchange.
