This Civic Cocktail program will explore tribal sovereignty in the Pacific Northwest from two complementary perspectives.
Seattle CityClub’s November Civic Cocktail explores tribal sovereignty, governance and the next generation of Native civic leadership.
The evening begins with a conversation about what tribal sovereignty means in practice. Our panel will examine how current systems work and what Washingtonians should understand about tribal authority and representation today.
The second half turns to Native youth and emerging leaders who are already participating in civic life. We’ll explore how younger Native voices are engaging with public institutions, what issues are shaping their participation, and how they envision the future of Indigenous leadership in the Pacific Northwest.
Together, the conversations will look at how Native civic power is exercised today and how a new generation is helping shape what comes next.
