The Future is Co-Operative

Guaranteed income creates opportunity. Cooperative ownership builds long-term power.

Join BCI and MJF on Tuesday, December 1st from 7:00-8:30pm EST // 6:00pm-7:30pm CST // 4:00-5:30pm PST for our online overview of our new program, Co-Operative Futures. We'll share our vision for worker-ownership in the DC region, and how we're partnering with local institutions to create a solidarity economy led by Black, Brown, and Muslim communities.

Co-Operative Futures is the first program in the country to combine guaranteed income with worker-owned cooperative business incubation. Rooted in the belief that people deserve not only to survive but thrive, Co-Operative Futures is providing monthly guaranteed income to nine teams across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region, while they prepare to launch cooperative businesses over 18 months, beginning in 2027.

Our program builds on years of organizing, relationship-building, and ecosystem development. It reflects a broader vision, one where communities collectively control the resources they need, and where economic systems are shaped by care, equity, and shared decision-making.

This event is for:

• Cooperative Incubators
• People and institutions working with guaranteed income programs
• Professionals interested in providing services to cooperatives
• Individuals and institutions interested in funding community support, wealth-building, and economic defense programs
• Anyone interested in learning more about guaranteed income, worker-owned cooperatives, and community investment

Please note: Co-Operative Futures is not accepting applications for new teams, but we encourage anyone interested in cooperatives, guaranteed income programs, and innovative community investment to attend to learn more about our pilot program and the future of guaranteed income and worker-owned cooperatives in the DC region and beyond.
