Dee Dwyer & Wheelie Wayne: Bike Life Artist Talk & Reception
An artist talk & gallery reception with Dee Dwyer and Wheelie Wayne celebrating D.C. & Baltimore Bike Life, Culture & Canvas.
Join Us for - America: The Game Artist Talk Series!
Join us in the main gallery for an exclusive closing-weekend evening exploring urban bike life—not as a public nuisance, but as a living art form, a mental health sanctuary, and a vital regional movement stretching from D.C. to Baltimore. We are bringing together visual artist and photographer Dee Dwyer (whose NPR-featured photography documents D.C.’s street riding traditions) and Baltimore legend Wheelie Wayne (pioneer of the 12 O’Clock movement who brought the culture to Hollywood in Charm City Kings). Surrounded by Dee Dwyer’s photo prints and sitting directly alongside Wheelie Wayne’s window installation the evening features a 45-minute panel discussion followed by an onsite gallery reception with light refreshments.
Schedule:
- 7:00 PM – Doors Open & Exhibition Viewing
- 7:30 PM – Panel Discussion & Audience Q&A
- 8:30 PM – Gallery Reception (America: The Game ), Refreshments & Networking
About The Panelist ________________________
Dee Dwyer is a Southeast Washington, D.C.-reared visual artist and photojournalist whose work captures the raw humanity, resilience, and authentic heritage of Black culture in the District. Best known for her acclaimed NPR feature documenting D.C.’s street riding traditions, Dwyer uses her lens to bridge the gap in understanding between local communities and the public, directly challenging stereotypes surrounding urban youth. Through her intimate documentary photography, she reframes bike life as a powerful form of creative expression, mental health sanctuary, and community-led advocacy—amplifying local movements like "Bikes Up, Guns Down" and preserving the living history of D.C.’s neighborhoods.
Wheelie Wayne is a legendary Baltimore stunt rider, cultural advocate, and pioneer of the city’s "12 O’Clock" bike life movement. Internationally recognized for his signature vertical wheelies and viral urban stunts, Wayne brought authentic street riding culture to global audiences through Hollywood stunt work—including Charm City Kings and Bad Boys for Life—as well as high-profile collaborations with artists like Fetty Wap. Beyond the bike, he is a leading public voice for the bike life community, advocating for legal dirt bike parks to give urban youth a safe space to channel their talent, energy, and passion off city streets.
