See It, Sing It!
A participatory music experience for families with babies 6 weeks to crawling. Includes gallery tour, live musician, and group circle.
The Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans and Joyful Sound Productions present See It, Sing It, a weekly participatory music series for new mothers and babies, newborn to crawling, November 9, 2026 through December 28, 2026.
Each session moves from the gallery to the studio. Families walk through the current exhibition together, then everyone gathers in the classroom studio for a circle to share songs, sing together, and improvise something from what they saw, something that belongs only to that hour, that circle, those mothers and babies.
Rooted in the belief that a woman holding her baby belongs in a gallery, the series draws on New Orleans communal music traditions and Gordon Music Learning Theory. It is led by a developmental music psychologist and a board-certified music therapist and brightened by a singing bowls player and a professional dancer.
Sessions run 40 minutes weekly at 900 Camp Street.
