Join us for, ‘Discovering Buried Waters: research into the story of Te Waihorotiu’, as local historian Lisa Truttman speaks about her research for the book, Buried Waters: Te Waihorotiu in colonial Auckland. While several archives and repositories were used to gather information for the book, a major source proved to be the records, files, images and early newspapers held by Auckland Libraries. In this talk, Lisa Truttman will provide a summary of the findings in the book, plus some background into the records located in the Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections.
About our presenter: Lisa Truttman
Lisa Truttman is a professional heritage researcher, and President of the NZ History Federation and the Avondale-Waterview Historical Society. Buried Waters is one of a number of self-published books, reports and research summaries by Lisa since 2001. She is also the author of the Timespanner blog, and administrator of the Timespanner local heritage Facebook community page.
Following the talk, from 12pm- 3pm the Reseach & Heritage Collections Open Day will continue with opportunities to chat to expert researchers and discover some surprising highlights from the Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections.
