Artist-Led Gallery Walk: X Marks the Spot with Brand X Editions
See the work through the eyes of the people who made it.
Join the DSVC invites you for an exclusive artist-led gallery walk of X Marks the Spot: Contemporary Screenprinting at Brand X Editions, now on view at the Dallas Museum of Art. Meet Brand X master printer James (Jamie) Miller and chromist and printmaker Miles Austin as they walk us through the exhibition and share the stories, decisions, and techniques behind the prints. DMA curator Dr. Emily Friedman, who organized the exhibition, will help us kick off the tour and introduce our guests.
For More than 40 years, New York-based studio Brand X Editions has redefined what a screenprint can be, collaborating with artists including Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Rauschenberg, Rashid Johnson and KAWS. Their techncially ambitious prints are held by the Met, MoMA, the Whitney, and the Tate.
Don't miss this rare chance to stand in front of the work with the printers themselves. Ask how a color was mixed, how many screens an image took, and what it is like translating an artist's vision into ink.
