1. What age group are the classes for?

Our English-speaking group is for children aged 7–11. However, if your child is 6 and already very interested in architecture, they are very welcome to try a class and see if the format is right for them.

2. Are the classes entirely in English? Does my child need any previous experience?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the classes are taught in English. No previous knowledge of architecture or special drawing skills are required. We will explain and teach everything along the way — the most important thing is that your child is curious and interested in architecture.

3. Do parents stay during the class?

Parents do not stay in the classroom during the lesson. They are invited to join us at the end for a short presentation, when the children share what they have been working on.

While the class is taking place, parents can enjoy CCB, with its exhibitions, cafés and beautiful outdoor spaces.

4. What should my child bring? Are materials and snacks provided?

Nothing special — just come and enjoy the class!

All materials are provided by the school. We also have a short break in the middle of the three-hour session, with a snack provided by the school: fresh fruit and vegetables, biscuits and water.

5. Who teaches the classes and what does a typical lesson look like?

Classes are led by practising professionals in architecture and design, with an assistant also present during the session.

6. What will children learn and create during the Microhome trimester?

Accepted Answer

Children will design their own Microhome, learning about scale, proportions, architectural drawing, space, form and materials. They will develop their project from the first idea to a physical architectural model.

7. Is there a final exhibition

Yes! The trimester concludes with an exhibition of the students’ architectural projects at CCB on 12 December, where children will present their work to parents and the public.

8. Can we try one class before enrolling for the trimester?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! A trial class costs €45, which is deducted from the trimester fee if you continue. You can also join until early November, with the fee adjusted to the number of classes remaining.

9. Where exactly do the classes take place?

Accepted Answer

Classes take place at the Architecture Centre at Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB) in Lisbon.

We use a separate entrance to the Architecture Centre so that the children don’t need to walk through the exhibition area. Before your first class, we’ll send you the exact meeting point and a short video
