SPEAKER SERIES: Surviving AI: What You Need to Know Right Now

Minneapolis Club

A timely conversation on AI: what’s real, what’s hype, what’s changing, and what leaders need to understand and do now.

AI is moving quickly enough that even people working with it every day find themselves asking the same question: Where are we right now? This panel brings together four people seeing the changes from very different vantage points. James Holmberg, co-founder of VILAS AI, works directly with companies and organizations implementing AI and preparing their people for what comes next. Olaf Kuhlke, Ph.D., leads Creative Entrepreneurship at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and is seeing firsthand what AI means for education, students and the future of work. Charlie Rybak, Editorial Director of Twin Cities Business, has a front-row view of how Minnesota businesses and leaders are responding. Sean S. Costigan, Ph.D., works at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, emerging technology and international security. The conversation will focus on what people actually need to understand about AI today. What has changed? What is real and what is hype? What are organizations and schools getting right or wrong? What risks should we be paying attention to? What happens to work, education, security and decision-making? And most importantly, what should individuals and leaders be doing now? Rather than predicting some distant AI future, this will be a practical conversation about navigating the moment we are already in.
