Written as a personal musical diary during the turbulent and transformative year 2020, The Therapeutic Harpsichord gives musical shape to the shifting emotional landscape of that extraordinary period while drawing on, and echoing, the enduring structure of J.S. Bach's great work, the Well-Tempered Clavier with its 48 Preludes and Fugues. The Preludes and Fugues that comprise The Therapeutic Harpsichord are a contemporary counterpart to Bach's great cycle, and a musical portrait of a time that resonates with our commonly shared experiences and emotions.
