Birmingham SF Group welcomes Theresa Derwin

Theresa Derwin is a bi, disabled female from Birmingham UK (she/her) who writes Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance & Horror. She has had over sixty anthology acceptances, one in Below the Stairs with Clive Barker, Ramsey Campbell and Paul Kane. Her first pro rate sale – ‘Shift Left For Love’ appeared in Brigid’s Gate Press Weretales anthology in 2021 and received an honourable mention from Ellen Datlow.

When she became too ill to work, she accepted medical ‘escape’ to pursue a writing career. As well as physical disabilities she has cognitive function issues, and writing gives her an escape from the everyday.

She's had four collections published and has edited over ten anthologies. She is the 2019 HWA Mary Shelley Scholarship recipient and completed a MA Creative Writing during the pandemic. She’s currently working on a novel about a midlife woman who hits the menopause and activates her ‘shifter’ gene. Her dark dystopian novella God’s Vengeance (2026) was recently published by Crystal Lake Publishing.

NB This event will be held in-person at the Friends of the Earth Warehouse, Birmingham and simultaneously on Zoom, with online access opening from around 7.45 for an 8 pm start.
