Zombie Bugs Informational Talk and Pinning Session with Neuroparasitologist

Zombie Bugs Informational Talk and Pinning Session with Neuroparasitologist

Overview

Dive into the creepy world of mind-controlled bugs with a neuroparasitologist and learn how to pin a zombie bug specimen!

Step into the eerie world of real-life “zombie insects” at our upcoming presentations at the Insect Asylum for the month of October! Join William C. Beckerson, a neuroparasitologist from Lake Forest College, as he prepares us for Halloween by revealing how parasitic fungi can hijack insect brains and manipulate their behavior. This talk explores the science behind zombie insects and why it matters. Attendees will get an up-close look at real, preserved specimens of fungus-infected insects and learn how to find zombie beetles right here in the Chicagoland area. If you love insects, science, or spooky topics this is a presentation you won’t want to miss. All ages are welcome! Tickets include general admission to the museum and all proceeds support The Insect Asylum Animal Santuary Program.

More information on zombie beetles can be found here: https://www.zombeetles.com/citizen-science
