April General Membership Meeting - In Person
Failure to Plan is Planning to Fail: Before the Drill, Have a Plan! Prosthodontic Principles for Predictable Treatment Planning
Marco Bergamini, DDS, MSD
Successful restorative treatment begins with a comprehensive and well-structured treatment plan. This course presents a practical prosthodontic approach to diagnosis, risk assessment, and clinical decision-making before treatment begins. Through clinical examples, participants will review key factors influencing predictability, including restorability, periodontal support, occlusion, esthetics, biomechanics, implant considerations, and patient-specific risk factors. Emphasis will be placed on determining when teeth should be maintained, restored, replaced, or incorporated into comprehensive rehabilitation. Attendees will gain a systematic framework for sequencing treatment, anticipating complications, improving interdisciplinary communication, and selecting restorative strategies designed to enhance long-term function, esthetics, and clinical success.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify key prosthodontic factors that influence diagnosis, restorability, prognosis and treatment planning
- Implement a systematic framework to evaluate teeth, implants, occlusion, esthetics, biomechanics and patient-specific risk factors
- Develop appropriately sequenced treatment plans that improve predictability, reduce complications and support long-term restorative success
