HEAT EXCHANGE CONVENING

BFIis an artist-run presenting organization dedicated to creativity, experimentation, and discourse in contemporary art. BFI creates a bridge between Miami and the international art world by curating programs featuring both local and global artists at sites throughout Miami-Dade County, and in collaboration with national and international partnering organizations. BFI fosters community by offering support for artist projects, through NOMADIC MIAMI, a site-specific curatorial platform through which we present exhibitions and public programming; and WEIRD MIAMI a series of artist-led tours that show locals and visitors Miami through artists’ eyes.BFI is an artist-run non-profit generously supported in part by a Knight Arts Challenge grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and with the support of The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, the City of Miami Beach, Cultural Affairs Program, Cultural Arts Council, the Cowles Charitable Trust and the Miami Downtown Development Authority. BFI's office and temporary exhibition space has been generously provided by Mana Contemporary Miami.

What can we learn from each other by building coalitions across borders? BFI invites you to the first Heat Exchange Convening, an interactive two-day program of panel discussions and presentations by guest artists and curators from Miami and Norway. This series considers research and practices around cultural ecosystems, collaboration, resources, and how to prioritize artists within arts infrastructure. Attendees are encouraged to join breakout sessions to connect with panelists between talks. The Convening’s core participants will share reflections and insights from their time at Heat Exchange, a reciprocal residency sending Miami artists to Norway, and Norwegian artists to Miami, in partnership with UKS (Unge Kunstneres Samfund/Young Artists’s Society) in Oslo, Norway. This immersive residency is designed for artists who organize, teach, advocate, build institutions, create artist-run spaces, and work at the intersection of art and collective life.11am-6pmSaturday, 10/3 features artists <a href="https://www.hellomynameissteiner.com/" title="https://www.hellomynameissteiner.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">A.L.
