Friday Night Lights: Fiesta por Bulerías with Nino de los Reyes
A joyful and engaging Flamenco lesson open to all levels, followed by a fiesta of movement and music in community expression.
About the event:
The evening begins with a joyful and engaging Flamenco class open to all levels, from complete beginners to experienced dancers.
We will work with the codes and language of Bulerías, discovering its rhythm, energy, and spirit in a welcoming and playful environment.
After the lesson, we will explore Bulerías through its most expressive and spontaneous side, the way Flamenco artists come together to share, connect, and celebrate through music and movement in community.
Everyone is welcome - come join the fiesta!
This event is part of the Friday Night Lights series and is held in Studio 7 on the ground floor of The Dance Complex.
About Nino de los Reyes:
Nino began his career at 9 years old with the Campanas Flamencas show (directed by Paco Sanchez, founder of the renowned company Cumbre Flamenca), sharing the stage with Joaquin Grilo, Milagros Mengibar, La Tati, Antonio Reyes, and his brother, Isaac de los Reyes. He also collaborated with well-known flamenco artists such as Eduardo Serrano “El Guito,” Carmen Cortes, and Javier Baron, among others.
In 2010, de los Reyes’s original show Origen won three awards at the Certamen de coreografía de danza española y flamenco competition in Madrid, Spain: first place in the solo choreography category, best musical composition (composed by Paco Cruz), and the “joven promesa del flamenco” award.
Due to his versatility, as well as his dance and musical knowledge, Nino has collaborated with several pop and jazz recordings artists, including Paul Simon for his Stranger to Stranger album. In 2020, he became the first bailador to be recognized with a Grammy award in the Best Latin Jazz Album category for Antidote, his collaboration with legendary musician Chick Corea. In addition, Corea invited him to participate in his 75th birthday celebration at the Blue Note club and to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Nino has created five unique shows: Origen, Inside, Tierra, Uno Más De La Banda, and his latest creation, Vuelta Al Sol.
He regularly teaches both beginning and advanced dancers at The Dance Complex or Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is an Associate Professor at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
