Intro to Jazz Piano
Ready to improvise? Explore jazz through scales, chords, rhythm, and creative experimentation at the piano.
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll look at the building blocks of music and discover how they can be combined and manipulated to create something uniquely your own.
You’ll learn how scales and chords work together, explore the importance of rhythm, and experiment with improvising on the spot. We’ll also talk about how your traditional piano training - including that Bach you’ve been practicing - can provide an important foundation for improvisation.
Be ready to experiment, take some musical risks, and play for the group!
This workshop is designed for current or former piano students who have a foundation in piano and want to explore jazz and improvisation in a new way.
Bring blank staff paper if you’d like, and come ready to play!
