A scene study intensive using selected Nurse the Dead scenes to explore character, objective, beats, subtext, listening and taking direction
Join Mark Labella, Creator, Showrunner and Director of Nurse the Dead for a hands-on acting-for-camera and scene study intensive using selected scenes from the series.
This workshop will explore character, objectives, beats, subtext, listening and what it actually means to take direction and adjust your performance for the camera.
The goal is to create a space where actors can experiment, make choices, receive direction and try again. This is not an audition. Nobody is being cast. Nobody is expected to be perfect.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
Through scene work and exercises, you’ll explore:
- Given circumstances, relationships, playable objectives, obstacles and stakes
- Beats, actions, tactics and subtext
- Listening and responding instead of simply delivering dialogue
- Eyelines, marks, continuity and stillness
- Adjusting your performance for different shot sizes
- Taking direction and making an immediate, playable adjustment
- Finding comedy without abandoning emotional truth
Whether you’re newer to acting or looking for more experience working on camera, this workshop is an opportunity to practice the process in a supportive environment and learn directly from a working director and showrunner.
No previous acting experience is required, and you do not need to memorize your scene.
