Join us for a joint Backcountry 101 as well as a women's partner finder social at Old Stove-Ship Canal Oct 19th!

Get ready to celebrate the start of the SIS winter season with fellow women and nonbinary shredders! We’re hosting a Backcountry 101 and Partner Finder meetup at Old Stove Brewing (Ship Canal) on Oct 19th, and you’re invited to join the fun.

This will be a dual-purpose event with a social space to meet fellow touring partners and one smaller section hosting an optional BC 101 Talk & Q&A for those who are new to backcountry touring or looking to brush up on the beginner essentials and learn some tips.

Why You Should Come:

-Connect (or reconnect) with fellow adventure seekers and find new touring buddies for the season.

-Enjoy drinks and food (non-alcoholic options available) while planning your next adventure.

-Learn the basics of getting into backcountry touring (splitboarding or skiing) from our BC 101 session, covering gear, basic technique, safety, and more.

Don’t know anyone going? No worries! This is the perfect chance to meet rad humans who share your love for pow hunting.

BC 101 Talk & Q&A

Time: 6:00–7:00 PM (small section of the event space)

Presenters: Alicia & Cori

This free session is designed for women and nonbinary folks who are new to backcountry touring.

We’ll cover:

-Essential gear and safety tips

-Local Avy courses and other learning opportunities

-How to get started confidently for a fun and safe season

-Have gear examples for you to look at and get your hands on

We’ll end the chat with a Q&A to help you with any burning questions you might have and then join the social. Set yourself up for a winter of shredding with confidence!

Partner Finder Social

Time: 6:00–8:00 PM

-Drinks & food available for purchase

-Meet new friends, share stoke, and plan some adventures together

-Get a sneak peek at the estimated event dates for this season

Facility and Accesscibility:

• The venue is ADA accessible, with the inside area being paved. The outdoor area is gravel. There are no stairs. There is seating and standing room.
• Gendered bathrooms are available.
• Parking lot of about 20 spots, then there is street parking available!
• Within walking distance of bus stops
• Seating available and standing room

Since this is a free event to register for, you can cancel at any time in your Eventbrite account. Please cancel ahead of time or email the event lead if you cannot attend so we know not to look for you the day of the event! Optional donations made during registration will not be refunded.
