Join CWEA LABS for our Annual Industrial Tour at Thrifty Ice Cream’s El Monte Plant, followed by dinner at Olive Garden in Montebello.
Join CWEA LABS for a behind-the-scenes tour of the 50-year-old Thrifty Ice Cream Plant in El Monte, led by Thrifty’s quality and maintenance team! The tour will highlight the production and manufacturing processes behind its iconic ice cream, from ingredients and processing to packaging and distribution.
Our main tour guide, Jody Ortega, is the Maintenance Manager at Thrifty Ice Cream, where he has spent many years working hands-on with the facility’s equipment, refrigeration systems, utilities, and infrastructure. Jody takes pride in keeping the plant safe, reliable, and running efficiently while finding practical solutions to the everyday challenges of maintaining a mid-sized manufacturing facility.
Following the tour, we will head to the nearby Olive Garden in Montebello for dinner.
