ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
The Human Experience was created and conceptualized by Ramya Shankar, an Indian-born international vocalist, sound artist, composer, and producer whose cross-genre work moves between Carnatic music, jazz, global traditions, and contemporary sound. A Recording Academy member, Ramya has contributed to a GRAMMY-nominated album and creates work centered on emotion, consciousness, and human connection.
For The Human Experience, she collaborates with Prasant Radhakrishnan, a masterful Carnatic-jazz saxophonist and disciple of the legendary Dr. Kadri Gopalnath, and Peter Barshay, a veteran jazz bassist, composer, and longtime touring musician. Together with her ensemble, Ramya creates an immersive musical language where traditions, improvisation, poetry, and lived human emotion meet.
