Fall Mandalas and Community Altar: an Afternoon of Creativity and Intention
Slow down and tap into your creativity by making a fall inspired mandala and set your intention for the season on the community altar.
Join artist Vicki Basta at Slip Gallery for a hands-on Nature Mandala Workshop and community altar for an afternoon filled with creativity, mindfulness, intention-setting, and connection.
Through the arrangement of pressed leaves and other botanical materials, repetitive patterns, and seasonal colors, you’ll create a one-of-a-kind art piece inspired by artist Day Schildkret’s book Morning Altars while exploring ancient origins of this tradition. This workshop invites you to discover nature mandalas as tools for meditation, as we create from the center outward, mirroring our own internal patterns of growth from the inside out.
As part of the workshop, there will be a community altar, where you will have the opportunity to write an intention/intentions and place it in a shared jar—a ritual for reflecting on what you’re ready to release, what you’re thankful for, what you’d like to welcome into your life or any other intention that feels right. All supplies will be provided. However, you’re also welcome to bring additional materials to incorporate into your art piece. Come spend an afternoon slowing down, making something beautiful, and connecting with nature and community as we celebrate the season of fall and gratitude. No art experience required.
