Hokkai Open Day

On Sunday, October 18th, we’re opening the doors to our factory hall for another Open Day!

This time, we’re putting the spotlight on one of Japan’s most beloved culinary traditions: the bento.

Forget a cheese sandwich and a mandarin tossed into a plastic bag: a bento is a carefully selected combination of balanced ingredients, brought together to create one beautiful and delicious meal.

Guests

To make this Open Day even more special, we’ll be welcoming several guests from Japan, including Mr. Sotozono, our sake expert; Mr. Abe, producer of our delicious crispy seaweed; and Mr. van Gompel, who will give a demonstration of traditional Japanese lacquerware.

Representatives from Kochi Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture will also be joining us, bringing along some of the wonderful flavours and specialties their regions have to offer.

There will be plenty of exciting new things to discover, but of course, we’re not letting go of our favourite traditions. As always, we’ll be filleting a whole tuna live, pouring from our full line-up of sake, and our house band will be jamming throughout the afternoon!
