Greg Koch & The Koch Marshall Trio
Greg Koch wrote the book millions of guitarists learned from. Hear him play it: Hammond B3, his son on drums, no singer, no bass.
Wednesday, November 11
First Show: 7:00 PM | Doors @ 5:15 PM
Admission: $30 - $65
Greg Koch won first prize at the 1989 Bluesbreaker Guitar Showdown with Buddy Guy on the judging panel, and he has been the guitarist other guitarists learn from ever since. He co wrote the Hal Leonard Guitar Method with Will Schmid, the beginner book his publisher credits with giving millions of players their first steps, and has cut more than 4,000 demo videos for Wildwood Guitars. Fender's Custom Shop built him a signature Stratocaster and Reverend builds his signature Gristlemaster. Joe Bonamassa's assessment: "pound for pound the best guitar player in the world today."
Koch formed the Koch Marshall Trio in Milwaukee in 2017 with Hammond B3 organist Toby Lee Marshall, a Twin Cities veteran of the Lonnie Brooks and Bernard Allison bands, and his own son Dylan Koch on drums. Their debut, Toby Arrives, came out in 2018 on Mascot's Players Club imprint, and Orange Roominations followed in 2023. There is no bass player and no singer: Marshall's left hand holds down the bottom, and everything above it is Koch.
