Tailoring Your Garment Mini Series: Hemming

Get the perfect fit for your favorite pants! Join our hands-on sewing workshop led by Danesha Anglin, and learn how to professionally hem pants and give your garments a polished, custom finish.

Step into the Mood Fabrics Atlanta Showroom for an engaging, hands-on sewing session! In this interactive class, you will learn essential hemming techniques that can be used to shorten and alter a variety of pants. Whether you have jeans that are too long, trousers that are too short, or simply want to build your basic garment-alteration skills, this class will give you the confidence to tackle hems on your own.

What You’ll Do

• Learn how to properly measure and mark the desired hem length.
• Explore techniques for hemming different styles of pants, including casual pants, trousers, and denim.
• Practice folding, pressing, pinning, and stitching clean, professional-looking hems.
• Learn how to select the appropriate stitch and finishing technique for your fabric and garment.
• Gain confidence using your sewing machine for simple clothing alterations.

What to Bring

Please bring one pair of pants that you would like to hem to class. We recommend choosing a pair that fits well through the waist and hips and only needs to be lengthened (must have excess fabric at the hem turned under) or shortened. All necessary sewing tools, machines, and standard matching threads will be provided for the workshop but feel free to bring your own thread for an exact match.

If you would like to purchase additional supplies, those items may be available for purchase in the showroom on the day of the class. Your ticket reservation converts to a $5 credit to use toward your purchase.

Class Registration & Cancellation Policy

Refunds for the ticket price are available for cancellations made up to 24 hours before the event start time. Please note that Eventbrite’s service fees are non-refundable, so you will receive a partial refund equal to the ticket amount minus those fees.
