Hakka Youth Fire Dragon & Cultural Festival 雲埠舞火龍仔文化節

The inaugural Hakka Youth Fire Dragon Ritual and Cultural Festival is happening on September 27, 2026, from 3:00PM to 5:30PM at Chinatown Memorial Plaza! All ages welcome.

We’ll be debuting our Hakka Youth Fire Dragon handmade collectively by the community, led by Jin He. The dragon is crafted with plants from Coast Salish Indigenous lands, as well as herbs and plants meaningful to Hakka and Chinese medicinal traditions. Its body will carry lanterns adorned with community well wishes and stories.

The event will feature:

• Hakka Youth Fire Dragon Storytelling: The origin story of the fire dragon, woven together from stories shared by community.
• Hakka Blessing & Incense Ritual: Honouring the dragon, our community, and ancestors.
• Hakka Youth Fire Dragon Dance: An opportunity for the community to dance the youth fire dragon and bring it to life.
• Community Performances:

• Opening by Hakka kirin dance troupe 麒麟革命 Kirin Rising
• Singing by Hakka elders Linda Zhang and Sean Gunn
• Hakka poetry by Melody Yun Ya Ma
• Hakka mountain song pipa performance by Zoe Leung
• Dance performance by Sunshine Seniors

• Hakka Living Library: Share your Hakka stories and contribute to our growing collection of community memory.
• Lantern Decorating: Decorate a lantern with your Hakka story or well wishes to be carried on the fire dragon.
• Hakka Youth Fire Dragon Merchandise: T-shirts and totes for sale featuring Rachel Kara Lin’s original youth fire dragon illustration.

Tea and refreshments will also be provided.

丙午馬年過雲埠，客家青年火龍仔。

我們誠邀四方賓朋，於二零二六年九月二十七日（星期日）下午三時至五時半，蒞臨雲埠唐人街，在華埠紀念廣場（Chinatown Memorial Plaza），一同見證及參與首屆雲埠客家青年火龍節。

火龍仔是我們對小火龍的暱稱。在我們的傳統文化中，「仔」 一字本身無分性別，亦有多重意思，可以表示微小、表示親密關係、表示細心、表示承擔責任。

承蒙原住民族世代所在並守護之山林河川，我們謹以客家火龍仔致敬。此客家火龍仔，由何錦龍 Jin He 率眾手紮，以此地生出之草木為骨，以客家本草及中草藥為神，龍身綴以明燈，燈上書畫社群祝願、鄉親故事。此龍雖小，卻載滿心聲，牽著千絲萬縷的情誼。

當日活動包括：

• 火龍緣起：講述由社區共同編織而成的火龍故事。
• 客家祈福敬香禮：敬龍、敬先人、敬社群。
• 齊齊舞火龍：歡迎公眾參與，共舞客家火龍。
• 社區演出：

• 客家舞麒麟（麒麟革命）
• 客家長者獻唱（张彩凤、簡思賢）
• 客家詩吟（馬勻雅）
• 客家山歌琵琶演奏（梁蔚衡）
• 唐人街長者舞蹈（Sunshine Seniors）

• 客家生命圖書館：分享您的客家故事、關係、歷程、記憶或希冀，為我們的社群知識及文化傳承出一分力。
• 燈籠添妙筆：在小燈籠上題寫心願、表達心聲或繪畫點綴，讓燈籠隨火龍同行。
• 客家青年火龍紀念品：以林思滴原創的客家青年火龍繪圖為主題的文創產品。

長幼咸宜，誠邀同遊。

現場備有茶水與小點，歡迎大家共享午後時光。
