I am very excited about this one.
I’ve wanted to learn the handpan for such a long time, and when Jessie and I started talking about doing something together, I thought… why not actually learn it with you?
So this time, I’m not just hosting the workshop. 𝐈’𝐦 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 🥹
Together with 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲, we’ll spend the day discovering this beautiful, hypnotic instrument and learning the foundations to start playing it ourselves.

No musical experience needed. No need to know how to read music. And definitely no need to be “musical enough”. 😄

The handpan is an invitation to slow down, listen and let music emerge naturally. Throughout the day, we’ll explore 𝐫𝐡𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐦, 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡, 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬, 𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, with plenty of time to actually play and experiment.
We’ll learn step by step how to approach the instrument, produce different sounds and notes, create simple rhythms and variations, and eventually start creating our own little musical language.
And because playing together is where some of the magic happens, we’ll also have moments of 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, finishing the afternoon with 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲.

𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 is a self-taught, multi-passionate artist who found in the handpan a whole new way of connecting with music.
She draws, dances, sings, loves performing and exploring everything that happens behind the scenes of a show. Her curiosity has taken her from percussion and choir to Dalcroze training, electronic music and Ableton — always following whatever makes her curious and makes her heart vibrate.
For Jessie, the handpan is a unique instrument: instinctive, melodic and deeply soothing, while still offering so much to discover when you start looking beneath the surface.

And I couldn't think of a better person to finally learn it from. 🤍
